The Platinum Story — Rockford, MI

Platinum started in a small pole barn in central Michigan selling used motorcycles. After just a couple of years, Rockford became home, and the business was off and running. We started off selling pre-owned motorcycles with a vision for more, with an early focus on bikes under $5,000. We soon grew into larger segments, including used Harley-Davidsons, and we still carry a large selection of pre-owned motorcycles today.

In 2016, we acquired Yamaha from another dealer and quickly became the top-volume Yamaha dealer in the state. In 2019, we added Husqvarna motorcycles (a KTM brand) to fill a niche in the off-road and dual-sport segment, complementing an already strong Yamaha lineup. With the rise of the CFMOTO brand in late 2022, we had the opportunity to add CFMOTO as well — a welcome addition, with new models covering segments we’d never carried before, such as 2-up touring ATVs, sport side-by-sides in 2- and 4-seat configurations, and even a 4×4 ATV under $5,000 with the CForce 400. Adding CFMOTO to our existing lineup helped us serve the many types of customers we see across Michigan. In late 2025, we added much-needed showroom space, and the business continues to grow.

The Platinum Coloma Story

In 2022, coming out of the COVID environment, we were approached by the owner of Coloma Motorsports, who was looking to sell. After years as competitors, we felt this would be a great addition to Platinum, helping us cover Southwest Michigan and border towns like Elkhart, Indiana. Being just off I-94 gave us a great east-west corridor for expansion into Kalamazoo, Battle Creek, and even Coldwater. This location also brought us Suzuki Powersports, Godfrey pontoons and tritoons, Hurricane boats, and Yamaha watercraft, along with a storage business where we store pontoons, boats, and waverunners. We’ve since added CFMOTO, and the store continues to grow.
